Noveltronix is seeking experienced HIL Testing Engineers to join our automotive validation centre of excellence in Bangalore. In this role you will build, configure, and automate HIL test environments for automotive ECU programmes — using dSPACE hardware platforms, ControlDesk, AutomationDesk, and Python scripting to deliver rigorous, CI-integrated test suites for production programmes.

Education B.E. / B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Automobile Engineering (or equivalent)
Role Overview Design, develop, configure, and execute HIL test environments for automotive ECU validation. Responsible for end-to-end test automation including model-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, and hardware-in-the-loop testing using dSPACE hardware and associated toolchains. Work closely with ECU software teams to derive test cases from requirements, automate regression suites, and deliver traceable, ISO 26262-aligned test documentation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and configure dSPACE HIL hardware systems (DS1007, DS1202, SCALEXIO) for ECU bench validation
  • Develop and maintain test models and signal routing in dSPACE ControlDesk
  • Create and automate test sequences using dSPACE AutomationDesk scripting
  • Write Python scripts for test automation, data post-processing, and CI/CD pipeline integration
  • Develop CAPL scripts in Vector CANoe for CAN/CAN-FD bus communication and diagnostics
  • Design and execute functional, regression, fault injection, and boundary test cases
  • Perform UDS diagnostics validation (DTC, read/write data, ECU reset, software download)
  • Analyse and debug test failures, capture root cause, and log defects in tracking systems
  • Generate structured test reports and maintain requirement traceability matrices (RTM)
  • Collaborate with software architects and ECU teams to review requirements and define coverage strategies
  • Support ISO 26262 ASIL-level test documentation, including test plans and test evidence
  • Maintain version-controlled test repositories (Git) and contribute to nightly regression pipelines

Required Skills — Technical
  • Strong understanding of automotive communication protocols: CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet
  • Hands-on experience with HIL bench setup, wiring, and signal interfacing
  • Knowledge of UDS (ISO 14229) diagnostics — DTC, DID read/write, ECU programming
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR architecture (Classic BSW, MCAL, RTE) and ECU software structure
  • Understanding of test design techniques — equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, state-based testing
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline integration for automated overnight test regression
  • Ability to read and interpret DBC, ARXML, and FIBEX signal database files
Good to Have
  • Experience with NI VeriStand or NI TestStand environments
  • Exposure to QEMU or SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) simulation environments
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety concepts and ASIL decomposition
  • Experience with fault injection testing and reliability/soak testing
  • Familiarity with Adaptive AUTOSAR and SOME/IP protocol
  • ISTQB Foundation or Advanced certification
  • Hands-on with hardware debuggers (Lauterbach TRACE32, PLS UAD2+)
Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset for debugging complex ECU behaviour
  • Excellent written and verbal communication — able to document test evidence clearly
  • Self-motivated, structured, and detail-oriented in test execution and reporting
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team alongside software and system engineers
  • Comfortable taking ownership of test areas end-to-end with minimal supervision
